This blog is all about sharing with you effective email marketing strategies that will work for you in 2022. So, if you’ve ever been thinking, “How to do email marketing?”… This post is going to teach you some strategies and ideas you can do when it comes to email marketing. This way you’ll be able to meet your audience where they’re at.
I’ll show you how to connect with your subscribers once you’ve already built an email list. I’ll teach you how to connect in a way that will organically convert your email subscribers to actual customers.
Email marketing is important for driving online sales in your business and connecting with your audience.
An email list is a list of people who have subscribed to your email list by giving you access to their email addresses. Typically, you offer something of value to them in exchange for their contact information. Building your email list is key to email marketing so that you have an audience to market to.
Email marketing is marketing done via email to convert your subscribers into customers. This can be a combination of automated emails, scheduled emails, and real-time emails. Email marketing involves email marketing funnels to funnel your potential customers into paying customers.
Let’s get into the email marketing strategies! Here are some of the best
Here’s my top email marketing strategy: The magic is in the email subject line! If your subject line isn’t on-point, people are not going to open your email. The ultimate goal… make your email “openable”!
Make sure that the email subject line is something that’s enticing to your audience. They’re already getting tons of emails from other businesses. Your goal is to use your email to pique their interest and get them to open it.
The best email marketing tools will have an option for you to do A/B testing with your subject line to determine the best one. Essentially, they’ll send the same email with 2 different subject lines to a small percentage of your audience. Once the email marketing software determines the best subject line, it will send the winner to the rest of your email list.
Oftentimes, I’ll use clever email subject lines that will say something like, “I can’t believe you said that!” or “Could you believe that [FILL IN THE BLANK]?”. You can focus on piquing curiosity or things that ignite their FOMO (fear of missing out).
Having an awesome subject line is one of the best email marketing best practices. Think of your subject line like a newspaper headline. You want it to pack a punch to be most effective!
Another really effective strategy is to personalize the email with personal information. For example, you can use the subscriber’s name in the subject line or body of the email. This best practice allows your email subscriber to pay more attention.
Wondering about strategies to personalize your email marketing other than using their name? You can use any other information that you may know about them based on what they’ve told you about themselves when signing up for your email list.
Personalization & segmentation are other best practices that are great strategies for email marketing. For example, let’s say you have an email list of moms. In this case, you could separate your email into first-time moms and moms with 2+ kids. If you have enough information about them, you could potentially market to them based on their needs.
You can easily do this with the email marketing tools and software that I recommend. Each of these tools has the functionality where you can segment your list based. You can segment your email list based on interest and communicate different things within the body of an email based on someone’s personal likes and interests.
The best email marketing campaigns are built based on value. One of the best email marketing strategies that boost sales is to share tips and valuable information. This also doubles as one of the major benefits of email marketing. You’re able to educate your audience and connect with you so that they can trust you – even if they don’t become customers immediately. This is an email marketing strategy that will never get old.
Sharing valuable or educational information helps you connect with your audience so that they’re primed to buy. This will help condition your email list to open your emails even if you’re not promoting a product or service in an email. That way you know they’ll be conditioned to open all your emails instead of ignoring your sales email campaigns.
One of the best email marketing strategies is to share exclusive and valuable offers. When you build email marketing campaigns around exclusive offers, your audience will feel like they’re VIPs. Your email list will want to open up their email to see exclusive discounts and valuable offers.
Here’s one of my favorite email marketing strategies! Use a countdown timer in your email marketing campaigns to build urgency. You can boost sales by launching a limited-time offer and including a countdown timer in the body of their email. This strategy will help you remind them of how much time they have to take advantage of the offer – regardless of what time they open up your email.
My email marketing software of choice is ConvertKit, which has the countdown timer feature. You can see this email marketing example in the image below:
One best practice with email marketing is to be consistent. Consistency with email marketing could be daily (depending on your industry) or 1-3 times per week. Your email marketing strategy will determine how consistently you’d like to send out emails. I typically send 1-2 emails per week, but if I’m having a launch or a sale, I’m sending anywhere from 3-6 emails in a week.
Please don’t overcomplicate your email marketing campaigns. Your emails can be short and sweet. Sometimes the best email marketing campaigns are straight to the point while adding value.
Here are a few email marketing examples of short and sweet emails:

That email was 5 sentences long. It wasn’t complicated, so please remember that email marketing does not have to be difficult.
Your email marketing campaigns should use your brand voice. The brand voice or tone for your emails can be fun or informational – whatever you decide. Using a relatable brand voice that resonates with your audience will help you relate better with your audience. Ultimately, the more you connect with your audience, the more they’ll be willing to pay in the future. This best practice in email marketing is great to help you boost connection and sales.
One of the best things you can do with your email marketing is to automate your emails. Automated emails are typically referred to as email marketing funnels or campaigns. Automated email campaigns are email flows that are trigger-based. For example, when someone signs up for an email list, there should be email campaigns that automatically trigger.
Some of the most common automated email marketing campaigns are welcome sequences and nurture sequences.
It’s an email marketing best practice to welcome your email subscriber to your list with at least one email. A nurture email campaign sequence is a series of emails that help your audience get to know a little bit more about you and your brand.
One major way to boost sales with email marketing campaigns is to ask your customers for testimonials and reviews. While this may not boost sales with the customers who are writing the reviews, this email marketing strategy helps your subscribers (and social media followers) see real, raw reviews from your audience. This ultimately boosts sales.
Social proof helps you make build trust and increase your revenue. Your automated email marketing campaigns can include a request for review or testimonial post-purchase.
In summary: Email marketing is an amazing way to connect with your audience to build the Know, Like, Trust factor while boosting sales. I hope these are some strategies that can help you get further in your business.
