How the heck did I end up searching the internet for gluten-free, dairy-free meal delivery services? Blame it on PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). My journey with PCOS led me on a search for gluten-free, dairy-free meal prep delivery services. I wanted to find recipes to help aid in my weight loss journey. This post is dedicated to sharing the best gluten-free, dairy-free meal prep delivery service I could find! Plus, I’ll share my experience with it!
I was diagnosed with PCOS in college around 2013. I was told that PCOS was the #1 reason that women in America struggled to get pregnant. However, there was so much more to the story than that. Later, I learned that PCOS more negatively impacts Black women than other groups. I also learned that weight loss can be pretty difficult for some women with PCOS. (I’d definitely be included in that number.)
I quickly learned that a gluten-free, dairy-free diet might be best in helping me manage my weight with PCOS.
A simple EverlyWell food sensitivity test in 2020 confirmed that I was both allergic to dairy and gluten. While I had previously tried a completely dairy-free diet, I’d never tried both gluten-free and dairy-free at the same time. Now was the perfect time to try.
After implementing a gluten-free, dairy-free diet, I felt healthier and started to lose weight more consistently and keep it off. I’m still working on managing my weight. However, this has been one of the biggest changes in a positive direction with my journey with PCOS!
As a busy entrepreneur, meal prep and meal delivery services save me so much time. I explored several meal delivery services, like Hello Fresh, Freshly, and other low-carb meal delivery services. However, I found that Green Chef was the best option given my dietary restrictions. Many of the other meal prep delivery services had low-carb options or gluten-free options. However, most of the meal delivery services still had dairy in them.
So here’s the secret to how I found gluten-free, dairy-free options… I looked for Paleo meals! Now let me share the BEST meal delivery service I found for my PCOS dietary restrictions…
Green Chef was the BEST Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free Meal delivery service I could find. (Save $125 with Green chef here.) Not only did they have gluten-free, dairy-free options, but they were easy to find on their website. Usually, I would filter their recipes to be meals that were the “Paleo” diet. The Paleo Diet, by default, is gluten-free, dairy-free.
While the Paleo diet isn’t necessarily, low-carb, it does eliminate gluten from the picture. The meals I typically enjoyed the most were the ones within the Paleo category. This diet definitely helped with weight loss! I’ve been able to lose 10 pounds and keep it off by simply cooking my healthy food delivery at home.
Did you know Green Chef was recently bought by Hello Fresh? I really enjoyed Green Chef because their food was always very fresh. Green Chef gave me creative recipes that I could try (even if I didn’t want to order a meal delivery every week).
Typically, I receive my Green Chef orders on Fridays and can make any changes to my order by that Wednesday. I can even choose to skip the week in case I don’t want the meals delivered to my home that week.
Before using Green Chef, I’d stick to simple meals that were primarily meats and vegetables. Now that I use Green Chef, I’m able to get creative with recipes. I’m also able to make my diet and lifestyle more exciting in the kitchen. Even if I do have to stick to gluten-free, dairy-free meals.
Green Chef typically provides recipe cards in each box for the meals which are pretty easy to follow. I’m usually able to prep and cook the food for the meal in under an hour. It typically makes enough for me to have 2-3 servings.
I’d absolutely recommend trying Green Chef for women with PCOS. I know there’s no one-stop shop for the perfect diet for women with PCOS. However, I know that eating healthier and eliminating dairy and gluten has helped me tremendously. Hopefully trying out Green Chef will really help you on your PCOS weight loss journey!
